A psychology for the 21st century
We are a college of psychology training psychospiritual therapists, coaches, guides and leaders. We offer both in person and online distance education.
What we do here at The Institute
Our MA programmes are University validated and our psychotherapeutic counselling and psychotherapy are accredited by UKCP (UK council for psychotherapy). Coaching qualifications lead to EMCC accreditation.
We offer a twin tracked journey, both toward professional qualification but also importantly we offer a psychospiritual journey of the soul, which can be undertaken without leading to a professional outcome if preferred.
Serving Humanity in Transition
Inner change leads to social change. Here at the Institute for over 50 years we have guided individuals towards their authenticity which we call Self. It involves deep personal work, breaking old patterns and the courage to embark on a journey into our shadow, and the parts of ourself that we may not be aware of, would rather not show or even admit to. To undertake such a heroes journey and to reconnect with who we truly are, we believe, is what is necessary to create authentic relationships and a new earth. We take individuals with this new inner ground and apply this context to professional qualifications in therapy or coaching, or individuals take this context into their life and current work, and thus serve humanity in transition.

Who are we?
This Institute was founded in 1974 with the agreement of Dr Roberto Assagioli after our founders Joan and Roger Evans trained with him in 1973. In 1975 The Institute went on to create the first professional psychosynthesis training programme in Europe, and later became a founding member of the UK council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Since then, we have added additional professional qualifications and university validated MA programmes since 1996. What is psychosynthesis?
Psychosynthesis is not a series of techniques to be learnt, it is a psychology for life and a context from which to live. It honors every one of us as a spiritual beings on a journey towards the awakening of our true nature, going from our own more selfish concerns towards those of the wider human family, all life and our environment.
