Hi, my name is Jessi or Jess,
I hold diplomas in counselling (BACP) and psychotherapeutic treatment (UKCP) as well as a Master of Arts from the Institute of Psychosynthesis in London. I specialise in embodiment in psychological treatment and I accompany people in therapy and coaching and have been applying Psychosynthesis in my leadership roles in clinical and organisational settings since 2018.
Psychosynthesis came to offer me the framework through which I now approach my work – and my entire life really. Many common psychologies and psychotherapy treatments seem to have lost the animating sense of soul in any human experience. Often treatment is focussed on fixing problems or eliminating symptoms and to bring the person back to the ordinary state of functioning. Whilst this is a way surviving, the opportunity is missed to help understand the deeper message. An important message with pointers towards new directions often lie at the heart of our struggles and suffering.
For my practice, this means problematic experiences and harmful behaviours will be addressed and treated in the process of growing and becoming. As a psychologist and neuroscientist, I acknowledge the medical view of symptom categorization and diagnoses where useful yet hold a more sensitive and life-giving lens towards what is going on for you beneath.
Many of us lead lives of quiet desperation before reaching out to help break the spells of history, social conditioning, stigma and so forth. Sometimes the consistent knocking within us is amplified over time, and we begin to listen. Sometimes it needs a transformative experience, or a life crisis, to shake us awake from a state of trance. We begin to seek a way to face whatever is troubling us. We thereby bring back to life lost aspects of ourselves which we need to move forwards and to feel whole – perhaps for the first time in our lives.
